Introduction
The aim of this project is to provide a high resolution regional climate downscaling product (9 km for east Asia with a focus on the Third Pole region and 3 km for south and southeast Asia).
To do this, the fifth generation ECMWF atmospheric reanalysis of the global climate, ERA5 v5, has been dynamically downscaled to the target region since 1979, using the Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) Model version 3.7.1. This work is led by Deliang Chen and Tinghai Ou.
Model domain
The main domain, with a 9 km horizontal resolution, covers a broad region over East Asia, centered over the Third Pole Region. A regional focus is over southeast Asia, where an inner domain with 3 km horizontal resolution is nested to the 9 km simulation.
