On March 28, 2023, Elsevier released the list of "Highly Cited Chinese Researchers" in 2022. A total of 5,216 Chinese highly cited scholars from 504 universities, enterprises, and scientific research institutions, covering 84 first-level disciplines in 10 subject areas of the Ministry of Education. Prof. Junguo Liu was selected.

This list used Scopus, a globally authoritative citation and index database, as the statistical source of scientific research achievements of Chinese scholars, and adopted the method developed by Shanghai Soft Science Education Information Consulting Co., Ltd. to analyze the performance of scientific research achievements of Chinese scholars.
